We are what we eat. Applying this timeless adage to media consumption provides a reality check about how significant the material we consume impacts our perception of the world. In a digital age like today, being a good digital citizen consists of truly watching the things we “eat” from the media on a daily basis. The importance of having a balanced diet is a universally accepted truth: society knows that it can help one’s well-being. In turn, this enhanced well-being—which, of course, consists of both mental and physical health—can make life feel more enjoyable, fulfilling, and joyful. Similarly, we must make sure that the media we include in our “diets” are balanced. But how do portions of vegetables, protein, carbohydrates, etc. translate into the types of media we consume? That’s the topic I’ll delve into for the next update!
